Superstar Aamir Khan’s much-awaited film Sitaare Zameen Par hit the theatres on June 20, 2025 and collected an estimated nett of ₹11.5 crore at the box office on the first day . The film managed to take an average opening in India, while the overseas collection figures are yet to be fully revealed.
Sitaare Zameen Par first day collection and theatre occupancy in India:
According to early estimates from Sacnilk, Sitaare Zameen Par has collected a nett of ₹11.7 crores across all languages in India on its opening day. Of this, the Hindi version contributed ₹11.50 crores, Tamil ₹5 lakhs and Telugu ₹15 lakhs.
The film recorded a total 21.43% occupancy on its first day in Hindi speaking areas. The occupancy was 16.74% in the morning shows, which remained steady at 16.25% in the afternoon shows. However, it saw a slight jump in the evening shows and reached 20.21%, while the night shows saw the highest crowds. Jaipur region recorded the highest occupancy of 29.33%.
This collection is slightly less than the first day collection of Aamir Khan’s previous film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ (₹ 11.7 crores). However, it is much better than the opening day collection of ‘Taare Zameen Par’ (₹ 2.62 crores).
Sitaare Zameen Par overseas collection
Currently, the exact figures of Sitaare Zameen Par’s overseas box office collections are yet to be released. It is expected that with the positive word-of-mouth, the film will pick up pace in the coming weekend, just like it did with Taare Zameen Par.
Expectations were high from Sitaare Zameen Par but despite an average opening on the first day, considering the content and positive responses of the film, it may do better at the box office in the coming days.

Directed by R. S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan, Sitaare Zameen Par is said to be the sequel of the 2007 successful film Taare Zameen Par. But the story of both the films is completely different.
The film is an official remake of the 2018 Spanish film ‘Champions’. The film stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles, along with 10 new actors making their debut in the acting world.
It is a sports comedy drama that tells the story of a suspended basketball coach who, as a social service, has to help a team of players with intellectual disabilities (special needs) prepare for a tournament.
The film has received positive responses from critics and audiences, who appreciated its emotional and inspirational storyline.
