Akhanda 2 - Nandamuri Balakrishna
The highly anticipated sequel, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, is generating monumental buzz across the film industry, with leading trade analysts predicting a staggering opening day collection that could redefine benchmarks for Nandamuri Balakrishna’s career and Telugu cinema overall.
The film, slated for a massive global release on December 5, 2025, is projected to achieve a net collection of over ₹50 crore in India alone on its very first day.
Industry insiders are closely watching the film’s trajectory, which benefits from the immensely successful legacy of its 2021 predecessor. The combination of actor Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu has historically proven to be a blockbuster formula, driving these high-stakes predictions.
Akhanda 2 is widely expected to comfortably surpass Balakrishna’s current personal best opening. His 2023 release, Veera Simha Reddy, currently holds the record for his biggest opener with a net collection of ₹33.6 crore. Analysts believe Akhanda 2 will breach this figure early in the day’s screenings.
The excitement is not limited to the domestic market. Trade pundits anticipate that the film will break Balakrishna’s worldwide opening gross record, currently held by Veera Simha Reddy at ₹48.12 crore. The comprehensive global release strategy, including 2D and 3D formats, aims to maximize reach and revenue.
Early indicators from international markets support this optimistic outlook. As of Wednesday morning, nearly 48 hours before the first official showtime, the film had already accumulated over USD 42,000 (approximately ₹37 lakh) in advance bookings in the USA alone, signaling strong overseas demand.
The production house has strategically positioned Akhanda 2 as a major December holiday release, a period that has previously favored large-scale cinematic events. With paid premieres scheduled for the night of December 4th in key regions, an early momentum boost is expected before the official release day rush.
“The sheer goodwill from the first part combined with the mass appeal of Balakrishna in this specific character means expectations aren’t just high; they’re astronomical,” noted a Mumbai-based film trade expert. “A ₹50 crore net opening seems very much within reach, provided the word-of-mouth is positive from the very first show.”
All eyes are now on December 5th, as Akhanda 2: Thaandavam prepares to make its highly anticipated debut on the silver screen.
