The Border 2 advance booking report has delivered highly encouraging signs for the Sunny Deol–led war drama ahead of its theatrical release on January 23, 2026. The much-anticipated sequel to the iconic 1997 blockbuster Border has opened its advance ticket sales on a strong note, outperforming several recent Bollywood releases and clearly surpassing Jaat in early booking trends.

According to trade tracking platform Sacnilk, Border 2 recorded an impressive ₹2.6 crore+ real gross from advance bookings within the first 24 hours of ticket sales. This figure excludes blocked seats and already places the film ahead of Jaat, which had managed around ₹2.37 crore in its comparable advance booking window. With blocked seats included, the overall advance booking total is estimated to be in the range of ₹4.5 crore to ₹6 crore, and the numbers are expected to rise significantly as the release date approaches.

The advance booking momentum reflects the strong anticipation surrounding Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh and headlined by Sunny Deol, alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The film blends nostalgia from the original Border with a contemporary cinematic scale, which appears to be resonating well with audiences across age groups.

Ticket sales data further highlights the growing demand. Reports suggest that over 53,000 tickets have already been sold in advance across Indian cinemas, with major metros leading the charge while tier-2 and tier-3 cities also showing healthy occupancy levels. Overseas advance bookings have opened in select markets and are showing promising early traction, indicating the film’s potential for a strong international performance as well.

Trade analysts point out that the patriotic theme, coupled with Sunny Deol’s return to a high-octane war drama, has played a major role in driving early interest. The reworked version of the iconic song “Sandese Aate Hai”, along with extensive promotional activities and positive word-of-mouth on social media, has further amplified the film’s pre-release buzz.

When compared to recent big-ticket releases, Border 2 has already shown stronger advance booking trends than films like Dhurandhar and Gadar 2 during the same pre-release phase. While mega-budget titles such as War 2 still dominate overall pre-sale records, Border 2 stands out as one of the strongest non-franchise openers heading into 2026.

Adding to its advantage is the Republic Day holiday window, which traditionally boosts footfalls for patriotic films. Industry experts believe that if the current pace continues, Border 2 could register a very strong opening day and an exceptional opening weekend, firmly establishing itself as one of the biggest Bollywood releases of the year.
