Coolie Box Office Collection Day 3: Rajinikanth’s Film Creates History
Mumbai: Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie is unstoppable at the box office. Released on August 14, just ahead of the Independence Day weekend, the film has already created multiple records within its first three days of release.

On its opening day (Thursday), Coolie collected an impressive ₹65 crore nett in India. Day 2 saw earnings of ₹54.75 crore, while early estimates for Day 3 suggest ₹38.5 crore. With this, the film’s total India collection now stands at ₹158.25 crore nett in just three days.

Globally, the Rajinikanth-starrer has crossed the ₹300 crore benchmark, making it the fastest Tamil film to reach the milestone. As per reports, the worldwide figure is estimated between ₹320-325 crore.
Occupancy and Reception
On Saturday, the overall Tamil occupancy rate stood at nearly 66%. Chennai, Coimbatore, Pondicherry, and Trichy recorded strong footfalls with night shows performing exceptionally well.
In France, Coolie set a new record by selling over 8,800 tickets on opening day, surpassing Vijay’s Leo. The movie is performing strongly in other international markets too, including Singapore, UAE, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and North America.
Beating Past Records
With three-day earnings, Coolie has already overtaken the lifetime collections of Rajinikanth’s last outing Vettaiyan (₹146.89 crore). It has also surpassed Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly (₹180 crore) and Mohanlal-Prithviraj’s L2: Empuraan (₹265 crore).
Star Cast and Direction
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie features Shruti Haasan, Upendra, and Soubin Shahir in pivotal roles, along with a special cameo by Aamir Khan. The Hindi version, Coolie: The Powerhouse, is also drawing decent crowds in Mumbai and Pune with around 39% occupancy.
What Next?
With the blockbuster response, industry experts predict that Coolie is now eyeing entry into the ₹600 crore club, a feat achieved by only a handful of Tamil films like 2.0, Jailer, and Leo.
