Coolie Hindi Box Office Day 1 Collection: Decent Start Amidst Tough Competition
Rajinikanth’s Coolie has made a respectable start at the Hindi box office on August 14, 2025, with first-day business estimated between Rs 4.5 crore and Rs 5.5 crore. This marks the film’s position as the second biggest Hindi opening for a Tamil dubbed movie, just behind Rajinikanth’s own 2.0.
Despite facing stiff competition from the Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starrer War 2, Coolie managed to draw audiences especially from mass entertainment belts, putting up solid numbers for a dubbed release. The film hit around Rs 2.5 crore in the top three national multiplex chains—PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis—which together contribute nearly half of the Hindi box office revenue.

Hindi and Tamil Versions Perform Well
Alongside the Hindi version’s decent opening, the Tamil original also showed strong performance outside its home territory, pulling in collections near Rs 1.75 crore from North India. The film is reported to be doing exceptionally well in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, as well as in international markets.
Early reports suggest mixed critical and audience reactions, which might affect the long-term theatrical run in Hindi. However, makers remain optimistic about the film’s potential to collect close to Rs 25 crore over the extended four-day opening weekend.

Bigger Picture and Expectations
Coolie is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Sun Pictures, with an ensemble cast featuring Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and a cameo by Aamir Khan. Released during the Independence Day weekend, the film leverages star power and action-packed storytelling to appeal to a pan-Indian audience.
The film’s strong start in the Hindi belt, combined with robust southern market collections, points to a potentially solid box office run, albeit with word-of-mouth playing a critical role in upcoming days.
