Coolie 2025 - Rajinikanth
Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated action thriller Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Sun Pictures, is making waves even before its release, with advance booking collections nearing ₹50 crore globally on its very first day.
According to Sacnilk data, Coolie has grossed approximately ₹15.35 crore in India (excluding block seats) on the opening day, with Tamil Nadu leading the charge, contributing around ₹13.86 crore. Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada language versions have also started strong:

International markets are fueling the overall surge, especially North America, contributing roughly ₹37 crore (over $5 million), bringing the worldwide first-day advance booking gross close to ₹50 crore.
A total of over 7,47,000 tickets have been sold across all languages on day one in India, with Tamil Tamil Nadu airports registering the highest demand and occupancy rates reaching more than 50% in key locations such as Chennai (88%) and Madurai (45%). Major cities including Mumbai and Delhi have also shown strong sales.
Occupancy and ticket sales indicate a blockbuster opening weekend ahead as the film gears up for its worldwide release on August 14, 2025.
Tamil Nadu leads with the highest contribution in gross collections and show occupancy, followed by significant collections and healthy occupancy rates in Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Delhi, and other key states.
With these strong advance booking numbers dominated by Tamil and international markets, Coolie is well-positioned to set new records for opening-day collections in Tamil cinema and Indian films worldwide. The film is expected to have a stiff box office clash with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 releasing on the same date, but early trends show Rajinikanth’s film ahead in ticket sales and revenue.
