Coolie Movie 2025 - Rajinikanth
Rajinikanth’s much-awaited action thriller Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has stormed the global box office with an impressive ₹151 crore collection on its very first day. The film’s electrifying release has surpassed expectations and outperformed major contenders like War 2, Pathaan, and Animal, making it one of the biggest openings for an Indian film in recent years.

According to early estimates from Sacnilk, Coolie earned ₹65 crore net in India on Day 1. Tamil Nadu led with a gross of around ₹28 crore, followed by significant contributions from Andhra Pradesh/Telangana (₹17.75 crore), Karnataka (₹12.5 crore), Kerala (₹9.6 crore), and the Hindi belt (₹6 crore gross). In total, India’s gross was approximately ₹75 crore.
Coolie set new records for a Tamil film in overseas territories with $3.04 million in North America, £124K in the UK, and AUD 535K in Australia on opening day. Overseas collections grossed ₹75.5 crore, contributing strongly to the worldwide total.

Coolie ranks among the top 10 highest opening Indian films ever.
The Independence Day holiday weekend is expected to boost the film’s collections further, with projections estimating a ₹300 crore plus extended opening weekend. If it sustains, Coolie could become the highest-grossing Tamil film, surpassing 2.0‘s ₹691 crore mark.
The film features Rajinikanth in the lead role, supported by Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and a special cameo by Aamir Khan. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie combines style, action, and star power for a mass appeal.
