The much-awaited film Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has hit an unexpected roadblock just hours before its scheduled paid premieres. The early screenings in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana have been cancelled, leaving fans surprised and disappointed. However, the Hindi version of the film will now be screened instead of the regional versions.
Why Were Dhurandhar 2 Paid Premieres Cancelled?
The primary reason behind the sudden cancellation is the unavailability of Tamil and Telugu versions of the film. Reports suggest that the dubbing work for these regional languages has not been completed on time, making it impossible to screen them as planned.
Cinema chains, including Broadway Cinemas in Coimbatore, officially confirmed that the Tamil paid premieres had to be scrapped due to the non-availability of content. This last-minute development forced theatres to make quick adjustments to avoid complete disruption.
Hindi Version to Replace Regional Screenings
To ensure that audiences can still watch the film during the paid premiere window, theatres have decided to screen the original Hindi version instead. These shows will replace the cancelled Tamil and Telugu screenings across multiple locations.
At the same time, theatre chains have begun issuing refunds to customers who had booked tickets specifically for the regional language versions. They have also issued apologies for the inconvenience caused due to the sudden change.
Delay in Content Delivery Caused the Issue
The root of the problem appears to be a delay in content delivery. Reports indicate that even the Hindi version of the film was delivered to theatres barely an hour before the scheduled premieres. Additionally, the subtitle package is still awaited.
The delay in post-production, especially in completing the dubbing for Tamil and Telugu, ultimately led to this situation. Without finalized versions, theatres had no option but to cancel the regional premieres.
Massive Anticipation Remains Intact
Despite these technical setbacks, excitement around Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge remains extremely high. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is one of the biggest releases of 2026.
The movie features a powerful ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal.
Global Release on March 19
The film is all set for its worldwide theatrical release on March 19, aiming to capitalize on the festive Eid weekend. While the regional language delay has created some hurdles, the overall buzz and fan excitement continue to remain strong.
