The much-awaited film Dhurandhar: The Revenge has faced an unexpected setback ahead of its release, as dhurandhar 2 shows cancelled news shocked fans in South India. Several theatres across Tamil Nadu and nearby regions cancelled scheduled screenings of the film’s non-Hindi versions at the last minute.
Audiences who had booked tickets for Tamil and Telugu versions were left confused and disappointed, especially as paid previews had already started in other parts of the country.
The primary reason behind dhurandhar 2 cancelled screenings in southern markets is the “non-availability” of dubbed content. Cinema chains confirmed that they did not receive the required digital versions of the film in Tamil and Telugu on time.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala explained that only the Hindi version of the film was technically ready, while the dubbed versions were still undergoing last-minute corrections.
According to him, the issue is linked to unfinished sound design or editing work in the regional versions, which delayed their final delivery to digital content providers.
The delay was not due to distribution problems but technical readiness. The Hindi version, even without subtitles, was completed and delivered for early screenings.
However, Tamil, Telugu, and other dubbed versions reportedly required final adjustments, including sound corrections and edits. This incomplete status meant theatres could not screen them, forcing cancellations.
Exhibitors in cities like Chennai confirmed they did not receive the Tamil version in time. As a result, cinema chains had no option but to cancel the shows.
Many theatre operators issued public apologies to moviegoers, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the sudden cancellations.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is set for a wide theatrical release on March 19, with paid previews beginning March 18.
The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role, alongside a strong ensemble cast including R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, Danish Pandor, and Sara Arjun.
While there is no official confirmation yet, it is expected that the Tamil and Telugu versions will release once the pending technical issues are resolved.
Given the scale of the film and its pan-India appeal, distributors are likely to ensure that dubbed versions reach theatres soon after completion.
The shows were cancelled due to the non-availability of Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions, which were not technically ready on time.
No, the film is not completely cancelled. Only non-Hindi shows in some regions were cancelled, while the Hindi version is being screened.
The film is scheduled for a full theatrical release on March 19, with paid previews starting from March 18.
Yes, the dubbed versions are expected to release once the final technical corrections are completed.
