Pradeep Ranganathan’s latest Tamil release, Dude, has kicked off its theatrical run with a strong start. The film collected around ₹16.5–₹17 crore worldwide on its opening day, becoming the highest first-day grosser of Pradeep’s career. It has comfortably surpassed the first-day record of Dragon, which earned ₹8 crore earlier this year.

Solid Performance in India

In India, Dude earned an estimated ₹11.25–₹11.50 crore on day one. The Tamil Nadu market contributed the highest with ₹6.25 crore, while the Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) added a remarkable ₹3.65 crore, a big leap from Dragon’s ₹1.25 crore in the same regions. Karnataka brought in ₹0.85 crore, Kerala ₹0.50 crore, and the rest of India ₹0.10 crore.

This brought the total domestic collection to ₹11.35 crore, marking Pradeep Ranganathan’s best opening ever.

Tamil Nadu & Telugu States Drive Growth

Compared to Dragon, Dude’s Tamil Nadu opening was around 15% higher, while the Telugu states showed massive growth. The film’s better-than-expected performance in Kerala also added to the strong numbers. The pre-Diwali effect slightly limited business, but collections are expected to rise as the festive period begins.

Strong Overseas Start

Internationally, Dude grossed around ₹5–₹5.50 crore, including preview shows. Combining domestic and overseas earnings, the film achieved a ₹16.5–₹17 crore worldwide total on day one — an impressive feat for a mid-budget Tamil release.

Diwali Period Likely to Boost Collections

The pre-Diwali phase has kept numbers stable, but from Monday onwards (Diwali day), the film is expected to see a significant jump in earnings. Historically, box office momentum stays strong for two to three days post-Diwali, which could further help Dude strengthen its position.

After ‘Love Today’ and ‘Dragon’, All Eyes on ‘Dude’

Pradeep Ranganathan’s previous films, Love Today and Dragon, turned out to be superhits due to strong word of mouth and sustained runs. Love Today made ₹60 crore from a modest ₹3 crore opening, while Dragon crossed ₹75 crore from ₹5.5 crore.

With Dude starting even stronger, expectations are high that it could become Pradeep’s biggest hit to date if it maintains momentum in the coming days.
