Vijay Deverakonda’s big release Kingdom has turned out to be a major setback at the Indian box office. While the original Telugu version saw a lacklustre response, its Hindi-dubbed version, titled Saamraajya, has ended its theatrical run on an even more disappointing note.

Released on July 31, the Telugu spy action film opened to mixed reviews from critics and an equally dull response from cinema-goers. With little buzz from day one and an underwhelming word-of-mouth, the film couldn’t pick up momentum.

Final Collection Report (Hindi Version)

On its opening day, Kingdom (Hindi) could only manage ₹19 lakh. Unfortunately, the numbers remained stagnant in the days that followed. After running for a little over two weeks, the film wrapped up with a net total of ₹1.71 crore, while its gross domestic collection has been estimated at ₹2.01 crore.

A Box Office Disaster Compared to Liger

The film’s numbers are shockingly low when compared to Vijay Deverakonda’s earlier Bollywood outing Liger. In fact, Kingdom (Hindi) did 92% less business than Liger, making it one of the biggest washouts for the actor in the Hindi belt.

Fierce Competition Made Things Worse

The release window also turned out to be unfavourable. The arrival of big-ticket Bollywood films like War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, and Rajinikanth’s Coolie, further reduced Kingdom’s screen share and audience attention.

Conclusion

What was expected to be a grand pan-India spy action entertainer has now ended up as a box office disaster. With just ₹1.71 crore in the Hindi market, Kingdom fails to leave any impact and will be remembered as one of the weakest performances for Vijay Deverakonda.
