Disney’s much-talked-about Lilo & Stitch live-action remake is performing exceptionally well at the box office. The film has now reached another milestone – it has entered the list of the all-time top 30 highest-grossing PG-rated films globally and is on track to break into the top 20 soon.
The Film Surpasses Inside Out and Coco
Lilo & Stitch has outperformed popular animated hits Inside Out and Coco in terms of global earnings. Made on a reported budget of $100 million, the film has already grossed more than eight times its budget – a massive achievement by any standard.

Box Office Journey So Far in North America and Worldwide
On its fifth Friday, the film earned a strong $3 million in North America, marking the fourth-biggest fifth Friday ever for a Memorial Day release. So far, it has collected $380.05 million domestically and is on track to cross the $400 million mark. If it does, it will become the second movie in 2025 to hit that milestone in North America.
Impressive Worldwide Performance
The film is also doing exceptionally well internationally. Here’s the breakdown of its earnings:
- North America – $380.05 million
- International – $492.35 million
- Worldwide Total – $872.4 million
This makes it the second-highest-grossing Hollywood film of the year so far.
Now Among the Top 30 PG-Rated Films of All Time
According to data from Box Office Mojo, Lilo & Stitch has surpassed Coco ($814.6 million) and Inside Out ($859.07 million) to land at the 28th spot among the all-time highest-grossing PG-rated films worldwide.

- #28. Lilo & Stitch – $872.4 million
- #29. Inside Out – $859.07 million

To enter the top 20, it needs to surpass Minecraft: The Movie, which grossed $953.5 million – a goal that may be achievable by the end of its theatrical run.
About the Film
This live-action adaptation reimagines Disney’s beloved 2002 animated classic. It tells the story of a lonely Hawaiian girl named Lilo, who forms an unlikely bond with Stitch – a mischievous, genetically engineered alien who crash-lands on Earth while escaping from intergalactic authorities. Disguised as a dog, Stitch gradually learns the meaning of love, family, and belonging.
Actor Behind ‘Shave Ice Guy’ Passes Away
The film also made headlines recently when actor David Hekili Kenui Bell, who played the minor but memorable role of the “Shave Ice Guy,” passed away. Though his part was small, his presence left a lasting impression on audiences.
