Rajkummar Rao’s much-anticipated action thriller Maalik has hit the theatres, but the film has witnessed a surprisingly dull start. With only 7% occupancy in morning shows, it has failed to break into the top 10 Bollywood openers of 2025 so far. Here’s a detailed look at how the film fared on day 1.
Known for his powerhouse performances, Rajkummar Rao returns to the big screen with a never-seen-before action avatar in Maalik. However, despite the genre’s usual popularity, the film opened to just 7% occupancy in the morning shows, indicating a lackluster start.
Maalik had to battle multiple contenders at the box office. While Housefull 5 is almost out of theatres, films like Sitaare Zameen Par, Maa, and Metro In Dino are still pulling decent crowds.
