Vijay Antony’s latest release Maargan had a strong start at the box office, despite facing competition from films like Kannappa and Kuberaa.
The crime thriller managed to earn ₹85 lakh on its opening day (June 27), which is a massive 183% jump from the actor’s last film Hitler.
Antony’s previous release, Hitler (2024), had opened with a modest ₹30 lakh and ended its lifetime run at around ₹2.28 crore. In comparison, Maargan has made a far stronger impact on Day 1 itself. With positive word-of-mouth, the film has a solid chance to surpass the lifetime collection of Hitler in just a few days.
Although Maargan opened well, it narrowly missed entering the list of top 10 Tamil openers of 2025. To enter the list, it needed to cross ₹2 crore, the opening number of Tourist Family. However, with good reception and weekend momentum, the film still holds potential to climb the charts.
