Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning - Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise’s legendary and much-loved action franchise Mission: Impossible has once again proven its box office power. Ever since The Final Reckoning was announced, fans were buzzing with excitement – not only because it’s Ethan Hunt’s final mission, but also because this might be the concluding chapter of the entire franchise.
After running successfully for 29 days, the film has created a new record by surpassing Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning and becoming the 6th highest-grossing film in the MI franchise. This clearly shows that fans still believe in Tom Cruise and are rushing to theatres to catch what might be his final action-packed outing as Ethan Hunt. So far, the franchise has earned more than $4.6 billion worldwide, and its latest chapter is strengthening this legacy further.
On its 29th day, which was the film’s fifth Friday, The Final Reckoning earned $1.8 million in North America. While this marks a 20.1% drop compared to last Friday, there are some valid reasons — 339 screens were pulled from circulation, and new releases like Elio and How to Train Your Dragon took over top spots. Still, the film is holding strong on its own at the box office.
Thanks to constant viewer support, The Final Reckoning has now earned $173.65 million in North America, pushing past Dead Reckoning’s $172.64 million. With this, it has become the sixth highest-grossing film in the franchise. This once again proves that the MI brand and Cruise’s stardom remain unbeatable even after decades.
Here’s a look at how the franchise has performed in North America:
As seen here, The Final Reckoning is now very close to entering the top 5 club!
Box office experts believe that during its fifth weekend, the film may earn between $6 million to $7 million. If this happens, it will surpass the 1996 original’s $180.98 million and become one of the top 5 MI films domestically.
It’s not just North America – the film is doing exceptionally well overseas too. Here’s the worldwide total so far:
Clearly, fans across the globe are still mad about Tom Cruise’s action-packed style and trust the MI brand.
The biggest question fans are asking: Is this really Tom Cruise’s final outing as Ethan Hunt? There’s no official confirmation yet, but if it is, then The Final Reckoning surely marks a historic and memorable end to an iconic career chapter.
