OG Box Office Collection Day 17: Pawan Kalyan’s Film Faces 24% Deficit Despite Crossing ₹190 Crore

Pawan Kalyan’s OG has shown a minor revival at the Indian box office on its 17th day, yet it remains far from recovering its full budget. Despite being the actor’s highest-grossing film, the magnum opus is struggling to reach the safe zone of profitability. Here’s a detailed look at the film’s collections and performance so far.

OG’s Performance on Day 17

OG, featuring Pawan Kalyan alongside Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, and Prakash Raj, recorded ordinary numbers in its third week. After a strong opening week, the film saw a significant drop in collections and now appears headed towards a loss at the domestic box office.

On its 16th day (third Friday), the film earned ₹83 lakh. However, on the 17th day (third Saturday), it witnessed a 77.1% growth, collecting around ₹1.47 crore. Although this jump was noticeable, it was not enough to significantly impact the overall collection.

17-Day Indian Box Office Collections

The detailed breakdown of OG’s Indian box office performance is as follows:

  • Extended Opening Week (8 days): ₹169.3 crore
  • Second Week: ₹18.5 crore
  • Day 16: ₹0.83 crore
  • Day 17: ₹1.47 crore
  • Total (Net, all languages): ₹190.1 crore

Adjusting for GST, the film’s gross collection stands at approximately ₹224.31 crore. Given the current trend, reaching the ₹200 crore net mark appears unlikely.

Budget vs. Recovery: OG Likely to Fall Short

OG was reportedly made on a budget of ₹250 crore. To achieve a safe zone and emerge as a commercial success, it needed a net collection of ₹250 crore. While expectations were high during the opening week, the subsequent drop in revenue means the film is unlikely to recover its full cost.

As of now, the action thriller has earned 76.04% of its budget, leaving a deficit of ₹59.9 crore, which equals roughly 24%. Given this shortfall, it is nearly impossible for the film to cover the remaining amount, meaning it will likely fail to emerge as a clean success.

Conclusion

Despite moments of growth in its third week, OG is struggling to sustain momentum at the Indian box office. Crossing the ₹190 crore mark is notable, but the deficit against the high production cost suggests that Pawan Kalyan’s latest offering will not achieve a complete commercial triumph.
