Rajinikanth starrer Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, started with thunderous numbers at the box office but is now facing a steep decline during weekdays. After a near-record opening, the film’s daily collections have dropped to less than 10% of its first-day figure.

Huge Drop in Weekday Earnings

On its seventh day, Coolie earned just about Rs. 7.25 crore, which has pushed its total domestic gross to Rs. 255.50 crore (approx). Considering the extended eight-day week, the film is likely to end around Rs. 260–261 crore in India.

Globally too, the performance is underwhelming. Wednesday added only around USD 250K, making it tough for the film to cross USD 20 million overseas. The current worldwide gross is Rs. 411 crore approx, far below the much-anticipated Rs. 500 crore milestone.

From Strong Start to Uncertain Future

Coolie began with record-breaking numbers, fueled by Rajinikanth’s massive stardom and the strong reputation of director Lokesh Kanagaraj. However, the momentum fizzled out quickly after Sunday.

Although the film’s numbers still fall in the “hit” category on paper, the massive budget and sky-high expectations make the current performance look underwhelming. What once seemed like a clear blockbuster run is now struggling to even maintain its hit status.
