Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s fresh pairing shines in Mohit Suri’s romantic drama Saiyaara
Mohit Suri’s directorial comeback Saiyaara is making headlines for all the right reasons. With a dream debut for Ahaan Panday and fresh chemistry between him and newcomer Aneet Padda, this musical romantic drama has managed to captivate the audience in its very first weekend.
Released with significant anticipation, Saiyaara opened with ₹21 crore on Day 1 (Friday), securing the third-highest advance booking collection for a Bollywood film in 2025 so far. According to trade predictions, Day 2 is expected to see an even bigger turnout, with an estimated collection of ₹24 crore.
Ahaan Panday, cousin of actress Ananya Panday, has arrived with impact. His performance and screen presence have been widely appreciated, and audiences are calling him an “overnight star.” His pairing with Aneet Padda is being praised for its freshness and natural chemistry. Both debutants have become the talk of the town in no time.
The inclusion of seasoned actor Varun Badola adds further credibility to the cast, especially in emotionally driven moments. The film’s music, typical of Mohit Suri’s emotional soundscape, has become a rage among the youth.
After a hiatus of nearly three years, Mohit Suri returns with Saiyaara, marking his first collaboration with Yash Raj Films (YRF). This adds another layer of buzz to the film’s release, especially with fans expecting the emotional depth and melodic storytelling he is known for through films like Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, and Zeher.
Suri, in an interview, acknowledged comparisons with his earlier work and expressed pride in being compared to his own style. He said, “If people think Saiyaara reminds them of Aashiqui or Ek Villain, I see that as a compliment. It shows they recognize my signature.”
According to film trade analyst Rohit Jaiswal, Saiyaara is expected to collect ₹24 crore on its second day (Saturday), bringing the 2-day total to ₹45 crore. Whether it crosses ₹50 crore today will depend on evening and night show occupancy, but chances remain high.
This performance places Saiyaara in the league of top openers of 2025 and firmly establishes Ahaan Panday’s arrival as a commercial lead.
Although Saiyaara has been compared to Housefull 5, especially in terms of box office, trade analysts suggest that it may fall slightly short of Housefull 5’s Day 2 collection. However, Saiyaara’s genre, emotional tone, and target audience differ significantly, and hence, direct comparisons may not be fair.
With its youthful appeal, emotional soundtrack, and compelling performances, Saiyaara is proving to be more than just a debut film. It signals a fresh wave in Bollywood romantic dramas. All eyes are now on whether it will cross the ₹50 crore mark by the end of Day 2. Regardless of the final figure today, Saiyaara is already a strong box-office contender and a successful launchpad for its leading stars.
