The makers of SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated film Varanasi have dismissed recent rumours claiming that the project’s release has been delayed. According to official confirmation, the film is not postponed and remains on track for its scheduled 2027 theatrical release.
Varanasi, one of the biggest and most expensive films currently in production in Indian cinema, stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in pivotal roles. The project was officially announced with a grand teaser and announcement event, and it is expected to be a major cinematic event when it arrives in theatres.
Rumours had been circulating on social media suggesting that Varanasi might be postponed or face delays in its release schedule. To counter this speculation and reassure fans, the film’s team released a clip from the official announcement teaser, reaffirming that there is no change to the film’s timeline and that production is moving forward as planned.
The movie is currently locked for release on April 9, 2027, a date that was revealed earlier and has not been moved. Varanasi is being made at a massive scale, reportedly with a budget exceeding ₹1300 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever produced.
In addition to its star cast, the film’s music is composed by M. M. Keeravaani, with KL Narayana and SS Karthikeya producing the film under the banners of Sri Durga Arts and Showing Business.
Industry watchers and fans alike have been following Varanasi closely due to its ambitious scope and Rajamouli’s track record with blockbuster films. With the confirmation that the project is still on schedule, excitement continues to build for what many expect to be a landmark cinematic experience when it releases in 2027.
