Ayan Mukerji’s highly anticipated action film War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, is building formidable advance booking numbers ahead of its August 14, 2025 release. The buzz around this sequel in the YRF spy franchise is reflected in rising ticket sales across India in multiple languages.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, War 2 has grossed over Rs 4.20 crore in advance bookings (excluding blocked seats) amounting to more than 1.29 lakh tickets sold nationwide so far. The Hindi version leads ticket sales with over 1 lakh tickets sold, while Telugu states follow strongly thanks to Jr NTR’s immense fanbase. The Tamil market is also showing promising bookings despite competition from Rajinikanth’s Coolie.
The advance booking trends put War 2’s Hindi opening day collections at around Rs 30-35 crore net, positioning it as one of the biggest Bollywood openings of the year. The overall multi-language opening day collections are projected to be even higher when Telugu, Tamil, and other versions are factored in.
The film’s Telugu dubbed version is drawing substantial support from the local audience, adding to the overall box office potential. Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, and West Bengal are among the leading states contributing to the Hindi advance booking numbers.
War 2 dominates advance bookings in the Hindi belt, leading by a wide margin over the competing Rajinikanth starrer Coolie in the same region. With War 2 enjoying a wider screen count across North India, the film is set for a strong hold in its core markets. Both films are expected to coexist well, each catering to their distinct audiences over the Independence Day weekend.
Globally, War 2 is poised for a promising opening weekend, with estimates suggesting worldwide collections in the range of Rs 300-350 crore. Despite a fractionally slower start compared to its predecessor, positive word-of-mouth and the festive Independence Day holiday boost may push the film’s numbers higher in the coming days.
