Rao Bahadur — Story & Plot

Rao Bahadur is an experimental Telugu psychological drama directed by Venkatesh Maha, starring Satyadev. The film follows an ageing, terminally ill nobleman haunted by a tragedy, a failed romance, and a central, agonizing question: who is the father of his son? Set in a sprawling mansion called Bhuvanalayam, the narrative explores themes of fading aristocracy, caste hierarchy, and social privilege. Diagnosed with terminal liver cancer and deemed a medical miracle, the protagonist grapples with a deteriorating mind, jealousy, and past acts of cruelty as his reality blurs with painful hallucinations. The film moves at an unhurried, philosophical pace, using magical realism and theatrical elements to critique societal obsessions with bloodline, lineage, and skin color.
