Sardar 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Karthi's much-awaited Tamil action film Sardar 2 has made a decent start at the box office. The P.S. Mithran directorial earned an estimated ₹4.50 crore India net and ₹5.30 crore India gross on its opening day.
With an additional ₹1.50 crore from overseas markets, the film's worldwide gross reached approximately ₹6.80 crore on Day 1, according to the latest box office figures reported by Sacnilk.
Sardar 2 Day 1 Box Office Collection
Sardar 2 recorded an overall 24.5% occupancy in India across around 3,950 shows on its first day. Tamil Nadu emerged as the biggest contributor to the film's domestic gross, while the Telugu version recorded stronger occupancy in several important markets.

Tamil Nadu Leads the Domestic Business
Tamil Nadu remained the key market for Sardar 2 on its opening day. The state contributed approximately ₹2.40 crore to the film's India gross.
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together contributed around ₹2.20 crore, making the Telugu-speaking markets another important part of the opening.
The remaining collections came from Karnataka, Kerala and other parts of India.

Interestingly, the Telugu version of Sardar 2 recorded a higher overall occupancy than the Tamil version despite having fewer shows.
The Tamil version registered around 22.0% occupancy, while the Telugu version recorded approximately 29.1% occupancy on Day 1.
Among the major Telugu markets, Vizag-Visakhapatnam recorded the highest occupancy at around 40.8%, while Hyderabad registered approximately 36%.
In the Tamil market, Chennai was the strongest-performing major centre, recording around 32.3% occupancy.
Sardar 2 Becomes One of Tamil Cinema's Notable Openers of 2026
With its opening-day performance, Sardar 2 has entered the list of notable Tamil releases of 2026.
Sacnilk's data also places the film's Tamil version at No. 12 among the highest Day 1 Tamil net collections of 2026, based on its ₹2.60 crore Tamil net collection.
The overall worldwide opening, meanwhile, stands at ₹6.80 crore, giving the sequel a respectable start in the global market.
Sardar 2 vs Mandaadi on Day 1
Sardar 2 also faced competition from Soori's Mandaadi, which released around the same time.
While Sardar 2 generated the higher worldwide gross because of its overseas contribution, Mandaadi performed slightly better in terms of India gross. Mandaadi recorded around ₹5.55 crore India gross, compared with Sardar 2's ₹5.30 crore.
This makes the two films' opening-day domestic battle particularly close.

The opening day has given Sardar 2 a reasonable platform, but its weekend performance will be more important in determining the film's theatrical prospects.
A significant rise in collections on Saturday and Sunday could help the Karthi starrer strengthen its position at the box office. The film will also need to maintain steady collections during the weekdays to turn its opening into a successful theatrical run.
