The high-budget gangster action drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash and directed by Geetu Mohandas, is reportedly experiencing a massive drop in its post-theatrical streaming valuation. Produced on a grand scale with an estimated budget of ₹500 crore, the film initially opened to strong numbers across domestic markets but quickly suffered a steep decline due to mixed audience feedback and negative word-of-mouth.
Prior to its theatrical debut, streaming platforms had offered around ₹150 crore for the post-theatrical digital rights. However, expecting the film to perform exceptionally well at the box office and drive its digital valuation above ₹200 crore, the producers chose to hold out for a higher price. Following the film's underperformance in cinemas—where its India net collection stands at roughly ₹243 crore—OTT players have revised their valuations downwards, with recent offers dropping to around ₹30 crore across all languages. Reports indicate that Zee5 is currently leading these negotiations.
To stem financial losses and secure a better deal with streaming services, the makers are now evaluating plans to re-edit the film specifically for its digital release. By restructuring the narrative and tailoring the mature action elements, the production team aims to make the OTT cut more appealing to streaming platforms and recover a larger portion of their investment.
